ABOUT
I am a first year doctoral student in the Counselor Education & Supervision program at the University of Central Florida. I serve as a Program Coordinator for the “STEM TRansfer Students Opportunity for Nurtured Growth” (STRONG) mentoring project, which aims to support undergraduate transfer students on their pursuit of STEM degrees. I also work as a Teacher’s Assistant for a Master’s level “Introduction to Counseling” course for which I facilitate psychoeducational lab groups and class discussions. I am an active member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), the Association for Counselor Education & Supervision (ACES), and the Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development (AMCD) and Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP).

RESEARCH EXPERIENCES

Masters’ degree research project: Relationship between Emotion Regulation Strategies and the Optimal Performance of Tennis Players

This study examines the relationship between emotion regulation strategies and the optimal performance of tennis players. It hypothesizes that high-performing tennis players use cognitive emotion regulation strategies to a greater extent than lower-performing players.

Undergraduate senior thesis: Ritual and Performance in Tennis
-
The study investigates the relationship between rituals/routines and performance in tennis.
-
Results indicate that players who use their rituals successfully have a better result during match play and in most cases remain calm, focused, and less anxious.
